Modra Reka restaurant in Prague
Modra Reka (Yugoslav restaurant)
Sometimes the best things really do come in small packages. A good example is this tiny Modra Reka, family-run restaurant that probably holds less than twenty people. No matter as whoever is here will taste some of the best Mediterranean-influenced Yugoslav cooking this side of the Adriatic.
The deliciously spicy menu includes Yugoslav classics such as cevapcici (minced meat kebabs) with adzvar (roast red pepper puree) and gibanica (a rich cake filled with fruit, nuts and poppy seeds).
A heaping platter of well-spiced beef fingers goes for 130 Kc. Other dishes, including fish, are equally as fair priced. Great Yugoslav pop soundtracks play in the background and, unlike seaside life in general, service is anything but slow.
